Hi! I'm Isabella!

For three decades, I’ve taught pianists at one of the most respected programs in the world—the New England Conservatory of Music, Expanded Education —as well as in my home studio. I’ve helped beginners take their first steps, guided advanced performers to win top competitions, become professionals and supported new pianists who simply want to play with joy.

I know how discouraging it can feel when progress is slow or practice becomes a struggle. And as a parent of four kids learning music, I also know how overwhelming it is to support practice at home and wonder whether you’re doing it “right.”

That’s why I created PianoGenesis—to give you a clear plan, expert guidance, and tools that make growth feel possible, encouraging, and meaningful.

My goal is to help you build confidence, make real progress, and develop a lifelong, personal connection to music.

When you’re ready, I’m here to guide you.

What others say about Isabella...

"Isabella has helped my son tremendously with overcoming technical challenges. While technical proficiency is fundamentally critical, she is equally adept at teaching how to make music beautiful through sound and interpretation, shaping the dynamics, colors, and balance".

Isabella is an incredibly gifted teacher who is able to draw on her vast experience in piano education to mentor students of all ages, starting from young beginners to advanced students. Her warm and nurturing personality helps her students foster a love of learning piano and connect with music on a deeper level.

Learning any instrument comes with innumerable challenges that requires not only a teacher's expertise, but also a passion for mentoring students to reach their full potential - both attributes that Isabella possesses in spades.

Personally, Isabella has helped my son tremendously with overcoming technical challenges. While technical proficiency is fundamentally critical, she is equally adept at teaching how to make music beautiful through sound and interpretation, shaping the dynamics, colors, and balance.

She shows students how to bring out various musical elements in a piece and perhaps most importantly, how to convey and evoke emotions through music – to elevate a performance from mere execution to a captivating artistic experience.

Evaline Liu - A parent

"She is much more than just an extraordinary piano teacher, though she certainly is that - she is a thoughtful and trusted learning partner who helps her students discover their full potential, in music and more broadly."

Isabella is a gifted, creative, attentive teacher who is deeply committed to helping her students become skilled and joyful musicians.  She draws on an enormous amount of expertise and experience, not only in music and piano but also in pedagogy.

She is keenly interested in how to help her students learn, and to guide them through that learning process.  I have always found her to be a confident yet gentle guide through the physical, intellectual, and emotional journey of playing the piano.

Yet despite her unmatched qualifications, one of the qualities I most appreciate about Isabella is her curiosity.  She is uninterested in following a rigid formula that can be applied to all her students; instead, she is deeply attuned to the particular needs of the student, their strengths and areas for improvement, and even their temperament and personality - and crafts an approach that is effective and tailored.

When a particular skill or passage in a piece is challenging, her instinct is to first ask why that aspect is challenging, and from there, she focuses on working to unlock or untangle whatever is getting in the way.

This is a serious, thoughtful, and inquiry-driven approach to growth - in this way, our lessons with her are not only lessons in piano, but also lessons for life.

I feel deeply grateful for the role she plays in our journey, and for her flexibility, patience, sense of humor, and her philosophy that learning is often a non-linear process. She is much more than just an extraordinary piano teacher, though she certainly is that - she is a thoughtful and trusted learning partner who helps her students discover their full potential, in music and more broadly.
